Before you jump into the TextMate book, it&#039;s worthwhile to just spend some time poking around the menus and the bundles; many pleasant discoveries to be had in there.  Once you&#039;ve spent a month or so absorbing TextMate on your own, then I&#039;d say it&#039;s worthwhile to grab the book to a) reinforce the things you&#039;ve picked up so far, b) expose you to things you haven&#039;t seen yet, and c) to introduce some of the more advanced customizations you can perform inside the bundle editor.  

TextMate is a joy.  Have fun!</description>
